The Brian Center is committed to providing a safe, protective environment where each individual receives personalized care in a home-like setting. Our knowledgeable nursing staff is dedicated to enhancing the quality of life for each and every resident. Whether our residents need assisted living, a short-term stay or long-term care, each one is treated with the same caring touch.

Dietary

Community Life

Our dietary department is wonderful at meeting nutritional needs and providing pleasurable dining experiences. We serve three meals per day and snacks are available at any time upon request. If you have special dietary needs, our dietician will review your dietary requirements and assure those needs are met.

Salon and Spa

The beauty salon and barber shop offers hair cuts, styles, perms and color services, with registered beautician Susan Hubbard. Susan has 22 years of experience in the Alleghany area and provides personal service to our residents.

Susan is here on Tuesday and Wednesday and all appointments need to be made at the front office. We also offer glamour nail service on Wednesday afternoons.

Transportation & Outings

We provide our residents with monthly outings to Wal-mart, lunch at a favorite restaurant, or a ride through the country to see the beautiful mountains.

We host a variety of activities and events geared toward our residents' lifestyles. We visit with each resident personally to discover their hobbies and areas of interest, and to get to know them better - our goal is enabling each resident to continue living a meaningful and diverse life.

We are very fortunate to have such a great community of volunteers who dedicate their time in helping our residents with group and individual activities. The Brian Center also welcome family and friends to participate.

Social Services

Our social services department is focused on serving our residents from admission to discharge. We assist in completion of paperwork, and can explain the necessity and meaning of documents such as the Advanced Directive. We can work with residents and their loved ones to help them make decisions regarding lifestyle and health care, as well as manage communications with community agencies.

Landscaping

Our Maintenance Director, David Unroe, has a unique talent for designing and maintaining lovely flower beds and foundation plantings. This provides a relaxing setting that enhances a feeling of well-being.

Housekeeping

Our housekeeping and laundry department work diligently to keep the facility clean. We give our families an option regarding laundry service. Families may decide to do the residents personal laundry or allow the facility to provide the laundry service.

Resident Council

Our Resident Council convenes monthly and is announced several weeks in advance. We hold quarterly Family Council meetings, which are announced approximately one month in advance. The Resident and Family Councils are arenas for our customers to voice concerns, contribute ideas, and help make a difference at The Brian Center.
